The party has also reinstated Andrew Nkana on his position as deputy national organising secretary.

Padambo, in a letter dated August 10 2022 and addressed to Machinga East legislator, Esther Jolobala, advises her that she has been appointed as national campaign director.

Padambo: Nkana
showed remorse

Reads the letter in part: “I write to inform you due to exigencies and after wide consultations, it has been approved and you are hereby appointed as national campaign director of the United Democratic Front.

“By virtue of your appointment, you have become a member of the National Working Committee which is composed of the substantive holders and vices or deputies of the top eight positions in the party hierarchy.”

The UDF SG advises Jolobala that the positions in the National Working Committee can be re-allocated to enable the party effectively meet exigencies and circumstances that may arise from time to time.

In a separate letter also dated August 10 2022 and addressed to Blantyre Malabada MP Ishmail Mkumba, UDF informs him that he has been appointed as deputy secretary general.

The party has also appointed Innocent Mbayisi as national director of research.

Padambo confirmed the developments, including the re-instatement of Nkana.

Padambo wrote to Nkana in a letter dated August 8 2022: “I wish to inform you that the committee made its recommendations which were considered by the national working committee.

“It has been noted that your conduct during the two years you were on suspension amply demonstrated remorsefulness, discipline and unflinching loyalty to the party and its leadership.

“In view of the foregoing, I write to inform you that with effect from the date of this letter your registered membership of the United Democratic Front is restored and you are re-instated as deputy national organising secretary.”

Nkana in an interview said he was excited with restoration of his membership and reinstatement to his position, adding he will payback this kind gesture by the party by working hard to revamp the party in the readiness to the 2025 polls.

“I believe in the UDF philosophy and I will do everything within my energy to get the party back on its feet,” he said.
